Science on Screen®: Blade Runner: The Final Cut (1982)

Science on Screen® at Images Cinema is made possible through a grant from the Coolidge Corner Theatre, with support from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation. The subject of our 2023-24 season of Science on Screen® is A.I., and themes we will explore is how it is depicted as either embodied or disembodied, how it is gendered, racialized, or sexualized and how that helps humans integrate in domestic spaces, and much much more. There will be a pre-film discussion, co-hosted by series co-curators and Williams College faculty Drs. Ezra Feldman and Tim Lebestky, with special guests from the fields of science and the humanities. In the smog-choked dystopian Los Angeles of 2019, blade runner Rick Deckard is called out of retirement to terminate a quartet of replicants who have escaped to Earth seeking their creator for a way to extend their short life spans.Science FictionPT1H57MR2024-01-10
