Science on Screen®: I'm Your Man (2021)

Science on Screen® at Images Cinema is made possible through a grant from the Coolidge Corner Theatre, with support from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation. The subject of our 2023-24 season of Science on Screen® is A.I., and themes we will explore is how it is depicted as either embodied or disembodied, how it is gendered, racialized, or sexualized and how that helps humans integrate in domestic spaces, and much much more. There will be a pre-film discussion, co-hosted by series co-curators and Williams College faculty Drs. Ezra Feldman and Tim Lebestky, with special guests from the fields of science and the humanities. Alma is a scientist at Berlin's famous Pergamon Museum. In order to obtain research funds for her studies, she accepts an offer to participate in an extraordinary experiment. For three weeks, she must live with a humanoid robot with artificial intelligence designed to allow it to morph into that of her ideal life partner. Enter Tom, a machine in human form, created to make her happy.Science FictionPT1H48MR2024-01-31
